“Ye paisa Bolta hai” – Post Budget Analysis at IPER

Dr. Amarjeet S Khalsa, Group Director, IPER spoke at the third Annual series of “Ye Paisa Bolta Hai” Post Budget Analysis session on 19th Feb, 2018 at IPER Auditorium. Earlier in this month, the union budget 2018-2019 was presented in the Parliament on 1st February by the Finance Minister. The session of Paisa Bolta Hai focused on the impact of the proposed Budget both on individuals, on Corporate and the Economy as a whole. MBA students, corporate guests, Alumni and other colleges faculty attended this featured open lecture by Prof. Dr. Khalsa.

Highlights of The Budget Analysis 2018

The Finance Minister presented the budget for the year 2018-19 with several aspirational reporting. His focus was on strengthening the agricultural sector, rural economy, healthcare, MSMEs, Education, employment and infrastructure, as stated in his speech in the Parliament. Ensuring the financial safeguarding of rural citizens health, the national healthcare scheme for rural India was one of the key highlights of this Budget.

Other major points of this Union Budget were EPF for women, tax exemption, incentives for the senior citizen, an amendment to Indian stamp act, EPF contribution to new employees, focus on employment problem, development of the fisheries and animal husbandries, LPG gas, minimum support price, ujjwala scheme, etc. The focus was also on enhancing the railway services under which major programs initiated for safety and maintenance.

The Union Budget of India is one of the most important events of the Country. However, there will be a direct or indirect impact on every industry. A post-budget analysis is being conducted at IPER to help management and commerce students, along with corporate representatives and teaching faculty to understand its impact on the society as a whole. The session was an opportunity for the participants to seek interpretation, exchange views on various aspects of the Budget.
