Smart City – Corporate Interface Student Community Event

The Under Graduate students of  organized a program ZEAL based on “Smart City” held on 6th August 2016 . The event was divided into two parts, first one was model making competition based on Smart City Concept and second one was a Guest Lecture on the same topic.

Students of various UG Classes like B.Com, B.Com (Hons), BBA and BM-Int MBA made models on Smart City Concept from their imagination. The models displayed usefulness of Smart City, its objectives, how resources can be utilized in best way and environment friendliness on the concept.

There were 8 models in competition vying for first position, each displaying unique idea like smart Infrastructure by B Com (Hons) III, Smart transportation by BM (Int. MBA) III, Smart energy by BBA III, Smart Availability of resources by B.Com V, Smart Waste Management by BBA V, Smart ICT (Information, Communication and Transportation) by BM (Int. MBA) V, Smart Sustainable Development by B.Com (Hons) V and Smart Infraportation (Bridge & Road Connectivity) by B Com III.

 

Evaluation and finalization of Winner was done by the Guests of the day, Mr. Tarun Chaurasiya, Asst Planner, Bhopal Smart City Development Corp. and Mr. Mohammad Ali, Design Er. Bhopal Smart City Dev. Corp. Students not only displayed their models but also gave presentation on the ideas and answered questions asked by the judges based on them.

Thereafter the Guests delivered lecture on the theme of the day. Mr. Tarun gave details about what facilities Bhopal Smart City will have. He said that e – governance and ICT existed before but this concept is about simplicity and integration of different wings of the government and private agencies in solving problems of the common man. He said that Smart city is being built on ABD model, i.e., Area Based Development. In the First phase North TT Nagar is selected for ABD through 2 R’s – Retrofitting and Redevelopment. Retrofitting will include overhauling the existing infrastructure and redevelopment will include surrounding areas into support system for the Smart City. He stressed that community participation is necessary for the project to be successful. People should accept the changes and adopt them because this is the future of the society.

 

Mr. Mohammad Ali gave details about the designing aspects of various facilities and their proper layout inside the smart city. He also invited students to participate in a competition wherein the BSCDCL requires design and ideas about practical and economic solutions to the problems faced by the citizens.

Next Activity was distribution of Certificates along with medals to the winner by the Guests along with Departmental Mentors Mr. Mahesh Soni and Dr. Vaibhav Lowlekar. The Model made by BBA V was adjudged best followed by first Runner up B.Com (Hons) V and Second Runner up BBA III.

The event concluded with Vote of Thanks to the Guests for accepting our invite in spite of their busy schedules and to the Group Director, IPER Group of Institutions Prof. (Dr.) A. S. Khalsa Sir, for permitting conduct of community event in this session, Departmental Mentors, HODs & Faculty Mentors for their support to make the community event successful.
