WWF is a Product launch simulation event, is an annual feature at IPER that includes product design, pricing, and marketing strategy development. This year’s WWF-2015 was the 11th Round, A Legacy of more than a Decade.
WWF is a Potent Marketing Wrestling Simulation Game which offers IPER’s MBA students a platform to test core marketing theories and financial ideas learned in the classroom and make decisions. Thanks to this marketing wrestling simulation game every characteristic of a product launch is real: from Market Research to 4-P’s of Marketing, Budgeting, Distribution Channels, Advertising, and Promotion.
On 21st April 2015 (Semi Final Round of WWF-2015), 16 teams participated in 4 different categories namely Diapers, Play School, Bread and Cab Service. In this year’s edition, special marks/emphasis was on new age digital marketing i.e. FB, twitter, youtube, etc. Each team’s actions were judged on the basis of the work they did during their field trip for market research and subsequent market analysis, STP, pricing including dealer and retailer margin, distribution channels and real-life alike on-display promotions for their new product launches.
IPER’s WWF event provides an opportunity for students to learn about the pros and cons of working in a team environment. By participating, students will be provided with LEARNING-IN-ACTION, have their performance observed and gain valuable insights from judges. While the event will test students’ business knowledge and its implementation, but the focus was more on teamwork rather than “individual skills”. It was expected that students enter the competition with knowledge regarding marketing and financials, the basics of Marketing Mix, pricing, etc. Each team was provided with an academic mentor who will observe and guide the team from preparation to execution. The mentors role with teams revolves around decision-making processes, resolving conflicts if any, clearing doubts, and also to motivate team members to work as one unit.
