 Skill Development Workshop Held at IPER-UG

Skill Development is a process of identifying the skill gaps and completing it with honing the enhancement area. Skills determine one’s ability to execute their career plan and ensures long-term success. The earlier a person starts acquiring a skill set and starts adopting it in day to day life, the more qualitative results start showing up in his or her career graph.

In this era of technology, one should focus on the development of skills including communication skills, language proficiency and nonverbal communication to achieve a successful career. Communication skills encompass far more than simple verbal and nonverbal communication, it includes presentation abilities, writing skills and interpersonal communication skills, a vital requirement for communicating in today’s technology-focused world. It is also important to communicate well because when we interact, we collect an array of values, assumptions and belief.

Growing Need of Skill Development

Keeping the need of skill development as the prime objective,  IPER UG’s R & L (Research and Literary) Student Community organized a “Skill Development Workshop” for first-year commerce students. It was a moment for students to understand the need of communication skills and look forward to work towards leveraging the same in themselves. The workshop was conducted by Endeavor Careers Pvt. Ltd under the guidance of Mr. Sohail Khan (Branding Head) and Minhas Khan (Centre Director) from Team Endeavor.

Student of IPER UG, Mini Budhwani initiated the session by introducing the trainers and company details. Mr. Sohail Khan conducted the key session where he highlighted the importance of communication, etiquettes, salutations and standing postures etc. He emphasized the importance of body gestures, especially on maintaining eye contact while communicating in different situations. Significantly, he elaborated the way of making communication interesting by the usage of professionalism in face-to-face and telephonic communication etiquettes.

Mr. Minhas highlighted the importance of communication in day to day life and career. He listed out the Do’s and Dont’s for students while appearing in an interview.  He offered several ways to enhance linguistic abilities, content and the confidence.

In conclusion to, Prof Priyanshi Sharma gave a vote of thanks and Prof. Upasana Sharma (Head of the Department) presented Memento to Trainers.
