Coping up with College Life Challenges

College life is fun and at the same time, challenging. Challenges are those rough patches that makes college life a lovable memory to treasure. For every student, situations are different, but still, some are very common and in this article we are trying to jot down some of the ways to cope up with those college life challenges.

Time management

A very common issue with almost every college going student.  “College is academically challenging” – and it because you get a lot of assignments, case studies, readings, presentations as compared to school courses. On top of it, if you are taking some extra skill courses or pursuing your hobbies then its adding to your already packed schedule.

Sounds stressful, isn’t it ? Just try to manage and trust me you would have time for everything. Planning is key to manage deadlines. College education and its curriculum focusses on providing knowledge and skills as much as you can. It doesn’t mean that take the book and studying all time. Time management is a significant factor and need scheduling for study, fun and take breaks that can fresh your mind.

Rising Cost of Education 

As the years have gone by, the cost of tuition fees have also rose. Student loans can be one of the best options to exercise. Loan tenure of such loans are usually course period plus 6 months to 1 year. Also there is tax benefits too – for student loans.  Students seeking loans should look out for various banks and compare interests, loan tenure, and other clauses before going for one. Most of the banks including government and private banks offer student loans – and their clauses vary.

Generally, for eligibility of student loans  are given to an Indian resident, aged between 16 – 35 years. Affording fees, should not be a stress factor – but it is very important to choose right education sector and right college so that landing into a good job post your educations is almost certain. Post education, employability-index must be very high and one should have all the skills needed to land into a good job.

Depression

Stress and emotional lows are common. In case, prolonged may lead to depression and you may require professional advice. Your mentor can be good resource to talk to, if you are feeling very low. Many colleges or universities have counsellors whom you can speak to – and seek a way out. Counsellors are professionally trained. They know how to handle such individuals and help them to get back on track.

Finally,

Challenges are every where and it needs to be rightly handled. As a student, focus should be on putting efforts in right direction and seeking guidance from the right resources to face challenges- whatever it may be. College life is a mix of all emotions – it is fun when you excel, you lead packs, you hangout with your friends for a movie or at college cafeteria, you crack interviews etc. At times, life can be little on the lower side – when you flunk, or score less than you expected, or find difficult to understand few topics or complete assignments in time. These are common just part and parcel of student life. Ask a student – is it really worth facing these troubles? , then seven out of ten will say “Yes”.  Fact remains, plan , organise and face challenges – and you will find that your world changes completely for the best.
